A partner, not a chatbot

Neptune isn't ChatGPT with a surfboard emoji. It doesn't search "how to bottom turn" and paste the result.

You partner with it. Session data from your Apple Watch. Technique from your photos. Your quiver. Live conditions. Your history. The coaching is yours.

When Neptune says take the Fishbeard today — you average two more waves an hour on it in this swell — that isn't a guess. That's your data.

What Neptune knows

The more you surf with it, the sharper it gets.

Sessions (Apple Watch)

Every Watch session captures:

  • Wave count and timing — how many, how long, the gaps
  • Speed and turns — max speed, turn count, pumps, carves, snaps
  • Paddle analysis — paddling vs waiting vs riding
  • Heart rate — effort through the session
  • GPS — where you surfed, direction, paddle distance

Neptune uses this to spot patterns. More waves in the morning? Wave count falling after 45 minutes? Too much waiting, not enough paddling into position?

Technique (Surf Tape)

Upload a photo or a video frame. Neptune looks at:

  • Pop-up — hands, speed, feet
  • Stance — width, knees, weight
  • Paddle form — extension, body position
  • Position on the wave — face, line
  • Posture — compression, rotation, arms

It tracks change. "Your pop-up is cleaner than last month. Front foot is landing between your hands."

Board intelligence

Each board in your quiver gets a record:

  • Waves per hour
  • Session rating
  • Which swell and wind it likes

Before you paddle out, Neptune recommends the board that actually works for you today. Not "ride a fish in small waves." Your sessions.

Conditions

NOAA buoys, tides, wind, forecasts. Neptune doesn't just report the numbers. It reads them for your level and goals.

  • "Rincon is 3–4 ft at 14 seconds from the NW. That's your range. Tide rising through mid. Wind fills at 2."
  • "It's flat. Here's a paddle session that will pay off when Thursday fills in."

Memory

Things you tell it stay:

  • Work hours
  • Injuries
  • Crowd tolerance
  • What you're working on

If you mentioned a shoulder last week, recovery advice accounts for it. If you only surf before 8am, it doesn't send you an afternoon plan.

How a day works

The Daily Note

Open Neptune. You get a plan, not a pep talk.

  • Conditions at your spot
  • One thing to work on
  • Which board, and why
  • When the window is actually good

The conversation

Ask anything.

  • Surf today or wait?
  • What to work on at Rincon in this swell?
  • Why do I keep losing speed in the bottom turn?
  • Help me plan the week

Answers reference your sessions, your progression, and the actual ocean.

Before you paddle out

One or two cues. Board. Timing. A warm-up if you've been out of the water.

After

What happened. What to keep. What to take to the next session. How this one sits against the last few at this break.

The knowledge underneath

Neptune isn't improvising from a blank page.

Progression paths — skill trees from first wave to expert, with milestones and drills.

Condition-specific coaching — small-wave work is not big-wave work. The advice changes with the ocean.

Common mistakes by level — the predictable ones, called before they harden.

What makes it different

It knows your surfing

Surfline tells you the ocean. Dawn Patrol tells you what happened. Neptune tells you what to do next — for you, with your gear, at your level, today.

It gets sharper

Ten sessions and it knows your patterns. Fifty and it knows your surfing better than a coach who sees you once a week.

It connects the dots

A human coach may not remember you changed fins three sessions ago, or that you rate mid-tide higher, or that your wave count drops under a 10-second period. Neptune holds those threads.

It's there

Most surfers can't hire a coach. Those who can see them once a week. Neptune is there before the session and after it. Every time.

Start

The web coach is live. Start coaching free.

iPhone and Apple Watch are next. Get on iOS and we'll email you the App Store link when it's live.

The ocean doesn't care about generic advice. Your coach shouldn't either.

Read it. Then take it to the water.
